Montclair Center BID Announces Tree Bed Contest Winners
The Montclair Center BID announced the winners of its first Tree Bed Beautification Contest. Organized by the BID’s Visual Improvements Committee, the contest recognized business and property owners who cleaned up, planted and improved the tree beds in front of or near their stores, or utilized planters to beautify their locations. Twenty-eight tree beds were entered in the contest, with more planters and improved tree beds spotted around downtown.
Gleek & Howard at 10 South Fullerton Avenue won Most Beautiful Tree Bed for its two improved beds. Most Improved awards went to Essex Shoe Repair and Rao’s Homemade. The Most Creative award was given to Parlor Hair Studio. Best Group Work was won by Esthetica, To Be Pilates and the Schultz Building. Pazzazed Gift and Home won Best Storefront Planters.
The contest was judged by Jose German-Gomez, President of the Northeast Earth Coalition and organized by the Visual Improvements Committee of the Montclair Center BID.
“We’re so delighted with the participation in our first contest,” said Jennifer Bobal, owner of Pure Energy Hair Studio, Montclair Center BID board member and head of the Visual Improvements Committee. “It’s great to see so many people actively working to make Montclair Center an even better place to shop, eat and stay. We hope the contest will serve as inspiration for other businesses and owners to help beautify our downtown.”
All contest participants received a special thank you marker in their improved tree beds, with the winners receiving special award markers. The winners also received gift cards to Hillcrest Farms, a family-owned and operated garden center in Verona. The full list of contest participants can be viewed on montclaircenter.com.
