Summer Sunday + Outdoor Film
Montclair Center is thrilled to announce Summer Sunday, the official kick-off to summer, with a vibrant outdoor shopping experience this Sunday, June 23rd, starting at 1 pm. All are invited to join in the excitement as downtown businesses open their doors and spill out onto the sidewalks for an unforgettable day of festivities. The theme is Summer Holiday! A curated group of buskers will fill the streets of downtown with a diverse range of music, from jazz to contemporary, entertaining attendees while they shop, dine, and explore. Sets will last approximately 1 ½ hours each, starting at 1 pm. The list of musicians with their locations and schedules can be found here.
Giant 8-foot-wide murals offer families coloring adventures. Coloring materials will be provided. These soon-to-be masterpieces can be found outside Fleet Feet at 603 Bloomfield Avenue, at Church Street & Bloomfield, and Kreme & Krumb at 147 Bloomfield Avenue.
Nothing speaks summer more than sitting under the stars to watch an outdoor movie! Presented by Montclair Film, a free outdoor screening of BARBIE, directed by Greta Gerwig, will take place at sundown on Lackawanna Plaza near Crane Park. Come early and enjoy the pre-show music starting at 7:15 pm. It will be performed by CHICA Power®, a JAZZ HOUSE KiDS group focused on empowering girls and featuring young female and non-binary musicians. Bring your lawn chairs and dress as your favorite Barbie, Ken, or Allan.
Additional activities on Sunday in Montclair Center include a DJ and dance lessons with Latinos of Montclair at Wellmont Plaza, a drag show from 12 to 3 p.m. at Porta, and a special brunch at Fresco da Franco.
